Occupational Therapy Assistant
Job Description
Encompass Health is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team, focused on providing high-quality rehabilitative care across our inpatient, home health, and hospice settings. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of our licensed Occupational Therapists to help patients recover and improve skills needed for daily living and working, especially after serious illnesses or injuries. This role is vital in implementing patient care plans, providing therapy, and monitoring progress while adhering to the highest standards of healthcare service.
Assist in the assessment of patient needs and therapy requirements.
Implement occupational therapy directives as crafted by the occupational therapist.
Document patient progress and response to therapy interventions.
Maintain equipment and help patients use assistive devices.
Educate patients and families about in-home treatment strategies and exercises.
Support the development of patient care plans with a multidisciplinary team.
Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient records.
Proficiency in following physical therapy treatment plans.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle physically demanding tasks.
Good organizational skills.
Knowledge of healthcare safety, EMR systems, and infection control protocols.
